AI Processing Disclosure

Last updated: July 31, 2026

MasquePlay uses AI as a core part of how the service works. This page explains exactly what AI does and doesn't do.

How AI is used in the app

Personas. The fictional characters you see in the app — their names, bios, and photos — are AI-generated. They are entirely fictional. Any resemblance to real people is coincidental.

Preference matching. When you swipe on personas during setup, we use that to personalise which characters appear in your daily pool. This runs entirely within our own systems — nothing is sent to a third party.

Conversation starters. When a new roleplay chat opens, we may suggest an optional opening line based on the two matched personas. You can ignore it and start the chat however you like.

Message rewrites. While composing a message you can optionally tap "Rewrite" to have AI rephrase your draft in the voice of your chosen persona. If you use this feature, your draft text and a short window of recent messages from that chat are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate the rewrite. Those messages may include personal details if you or your partner typed them into the chat. This feature is entirely optional — rewrite prompts are not sent unless you explicitly request a rewrite.

Additional persona photos. If you request an extra photo for a matched persona, AI may generate that image using the fictional persona details, selected scene, and an existing fictional persona image as reference.

What AI never does

Third-party AI

We use third-party AI providers to generate persona content, scene setups, conversation starters, message rewrites, and additional persona photos.

For persona generation and additional photos, prompts are based on fictional persona material. For roleplay writing tools, prompts can include the draft and recent chat messages when needed for context. We do not add account fields like email address, date of birth, or payment information to AI prompts.

Under the API terms and settings we use, data sent to our AI providers is not used to train their models by default. Providers may retain API inputs and outputs for a limited time for abuse monitoring, security, or legal reasons.

Legal basis for AI processing

AI-generated personas and matching are core to MasquePlay: they are required to provide the service you signed up for. Optional AI features, like message rewrites, opening lines, and additional photos, run only when you choose to use them. By creating an account you acknowledge that AI processing is part of MasquePlay and is described above.
