A masquerade built for two

About MasquePlay

Same partner. New characters. Different chemistry. MasquePlay is a private roleplay game for couples. Two partners who are already together choose fictional characters, find each other in a shared scene, and play the story that follows in a private, in-character chat.

What MasquePlay is

MasquePlay is a game, and the two of you are the only players. Each night starts with a scene, a cast of fictional characters, and a small secret: which character each of you decided to be. The game's job is to set the stage. Where the story goes after that is up to you.

It is not a dating app. There is nobody to meet, nobody to match with, and no way for a stranger to find you. Every character you see is fictional; the only real person on the other side is your partner.

Who it is for

How a night plays

Whoever opens the app first picks tonight's scene, and you both play it. Each of you is dealt a pool of fictional characters, keeps one, and locks it in without saying which. Then you look through your partner's characters: every face is visible, and only their choice is hidden. If you each liked the character the other kept, the scene opens as a private chat where you play those two characters together.

The homepage has a short, playable version of a round if you would rather see it than read it: try it here.

How privacy works

MasquePlay is built so that nothing you do in it is public.

The full detail, including what is collected during the private beta application, is in the Privacy Policy.

How AI is used

AI is part of how MasquePlay works, and it has clear limits.

The AI Disclosure explains exactly what is sent to an AI provider and when.

The Real World, The Veil, and Perigee

Every couple plays in a world: a setting with its own cast, its own manners, and its own reasons to stand too close.

The Real World

Modern romance. Rooftops, galleries, hotel bars and last trains: exactly as things are now, except the names.

The Veil

Romantasy. Thornmere after dusk, with lantern light on black water and courts that have been waiting a long time.

Perigee

Space opera. Vesper Station keeps its own hours: garden concourses, midnight docks, and a window with nothing behind it.

The private beta

MasquePlay is in private beta. A small number of Founding Couples are being invited to play all three worlds, play twice over two weeks, and tell us honestly how it went, with full access for as long as the beta runs.
