A guide for two
Roleplay ideas for couples
Roleplay is a story the two of you play together. Pick a place, pick who you are, and let the rest happen. Here are eight setups that work.
Try these as an at-home date night or play them by text when you're apart — no need to visit the setting.
How to start
- Agree on limits first. Say what's off the table before anyone is in character.
- Start with a place, not a plot. Where you are and who you are is enough.
- Start with five minutes. Keep going if you're both enjoying it. Either of you can pause or stop whenever you want.
- Try it by text. It's easier to be someone else when you're not face to face.
Eight scenes to try
Strangers at the bar
Arrive separately. One of you is already there. The other takes the seat two down. No real names.
Opening line: “Is this seat taken, or were you saving it for me?”
The last train
Two travellers, one delayed departure, and nowhere to be for an hour.
The bookstore before close
Twenty minutes left and the aisles are empty. One of you works there. Or claims to.
Opening line: “Pick a book for me. Something you wouldn't recommend to just anyone.”
The gallery opening
One of you made the art. The other isn't sure they like it, and says so.
The masquerade
Masks on, names off, nobody leaves before midnight. The Veil is built on this one.
The last night in port
A space station, one ship leaving at dawn, and one of you is on it. That's Perigee.
The rivals
Same job, same prize, same last table. Neither of you plays fair.
The reunion
Old flames, ten years later. Who left, and why, is up to you.
Opening line: “I had a whole speech ready. Then you walked in.”
Let MasquePlay set the stage
MasquePlay is a private roleplay game for couples. One of you chooses the scene. The game deals the characters and keeps your partner's choice hidden while you look for each other. When your choices align, you play it out in a private chat. See how a round plays.
